It’s a Breese for Cofis as they stick EIGHT past Queen’s Park

-

CAERNARFON Town’s 18-match unbeaten run in the Huws Gray Alliance should be put firmly to the test this Saturday when third-place Guilsfield visit The Oval.

The Canaries enjoy a four-point lead at the summit following last weekend’s ruthless 8-0 demolition of FC Queen’s Park.

Danny Brookwell was first to test Park’s Stephen Jones when he forced the home stopper to get down smartly to pouch his cross.

At the other end, a quick break nearly caught out the Caernarfon back-line, who could thank Clive Williams for a last-gasp challenge on Helder Ramos, who seemed destined to score from 10 yards out.

Tomas Bunclark thought he had put the hosts ahead when his sweetly-struck effort from 25 yards looked goalbound until Alex Ramsay somehow got his fingertips to the ball to push it onto the woodwork.

It was an astounding save by Town’s number one and a turning point in the game as Caernarfon went on to establish a 3-0 lead by half time.Rhys Roberts headed into the roof of the net before Jamie Breese doubled Town’s lead from the penalty spot after Brookwell had been upended in the area.

Just 60 seconds later, Jamie Crowther scored from close range after Roberts had headed the ball into the six-yard area from a Darren Thomas cross.

The Cofis continued to dominate after the break.

Breese extended the lead to 4-0 when he made the most of hesitancy in the hosts’ defence and tapped into an empty net from a yard out.

The striker completed his hat-trick five minutes later when he showed his pace to latch onto a long delivery that beat the backline before pushing the ball past Jones and finishing the job off from close range.

The hosts were in disarray at this point as they lost their shape and gave the Cofis too much space behind, where Brookwell, Kevin Lloyd and Shaun Cavanagh were looking to take advantage.

Gareth Evans got on the scoresheet in the 80th minute when he followed up to find the net after Jones could not keep hold of a Thomas free kick.

Man of the match Crowther completed his brace soon after before Evans matched his feat when he finished superbly from 10 yards.
