£1,000 raised for the love of Deian

-

A Dolgellau family has raised more than £1,000 for the Community Children’s Nursing team in Caernarfon and Wrexham Maelor Hospital’s Children’s Ward in memory of their five-year-old son who sadly passed away.

Deian Glyn was cared for by the Community Children’s Nursing team before he passed away on July 2, 2016.

Deian was born with a congenital condition which affected his growth, caused epilepsy and affected his immune system.

Following their tragic loss, his parents, Gwenyth and Roger Savage, raised funds in Deian’s memory and have since donated £650 to the Community Children’s Nursing Team and also Wrexham Maelor Hospital’s Children’s Ward.

Gwenyth, who works as an Occupational Therapist at Dolgellau Hospital, said her family were extremely grateful for the support they received from the nursing staff. She said: “The Community Children’s Nursing team and the nurses at Wrexham Children’s Ward were extremely supportive and provided Deian with excellent care. “We, as a family, are very grateful for all the support received from the community team to care for him at home, despite his complex nursing needs. This allowed Deian to remain in the comfort of his home and for his siblings to enjoy precious times with him.

“They also supported him to attend the local Cylch Meithrin, when his health allowed this.”

The money has been used to buy sensory equipment for use in the community with other children receiving care from the team.
