Cara takes plaudits in Holyhead’s super fightback

HOLYHEAD produced a great comeback to beat Arfon Celts 30-24 in the latest round of matches in Division One of the Axis Precision Ltd Gwynedd and Anglesey Netball League.

Trailing 16-11 at halfway, the Anglesey side won the third quarter 10-2 to hold a 21-18 advantage entering the last quarter, which they took 9-6. Player of the Match: Holyhead - Cara Williams; Celts - Anna Selick.

With Moniars unable to fulfill their fixture, scheduled opponents Dyffryn Penygroes Ladies claimed a 40-0 victory. The Anglesey team will also have points deducted.

Table-toppers Arfon Celts defeated Tim o Walis 34-11, while Pwllheli whipped the Subway Warriors 31-8. PoM: Pwllheli - Cerys Studt; Warriors - Llio Jones.

Division Two leaders Menai Mavericks made it 13 straight victories by beating Porthmadog 35-25.

Port were just 16-12 behind at the half, but the islanders pulled clear. PoM: Mavericks - Leah Roberts; Port - Amelia Mayo.

Winless bottom team Sombreros did well in losing just 17-13 to Mon. The basement side were level going into the final session. PoM: Mon - Malan Hughes; Sombreros - Louise Pleasant.

Pwllheli Wildcats swept aside Llangefni 26-7. PoM: Wildcats - Alaw Gilford; Llangefni - Meirian Morgan. Snow halted last week’s fixtures.
