TRIBUTES AFTER BODY FOUND

Restaurant closes in mourning for much-loved colleague:

- Kelly Williams

DEVASTATED work friends of a man found dead on a shoreline have said the “world would be a better place with more people like him in it”.

Jason Lewis’ body was discovered near the village of Aberffraw on the south west coast of Anglesey on Saturday – five days after he was reported missing.

Colleagues at Tŷ Coz bar and restaurant in Caernarfon (inset), where Mr Lewis was a waiter and front-of-house manager, have paid tribute to the 43-year-old.

A post on its Facebook page read: “Late in the afternoon of Saturday March 10 we learned that our friend Jason Lewis won’t be coming back to us. Our thoughts are with Jason’s family, who we know he loved and cared for very much.

“As for us, well, there is onlyl so muchh that words can express. We are devastated.”

It added: “Although we only knew Jason well for a relatively short time, we can honestly say that there have been few people in our lives about whom there were so many positive things to like.

“The world would be a far better place with more people like Jason.

“That makes his untimely departure all the harder to deal with.

“Jason gave us so much more than we could ever give in return, whether that be as a friend or as an employee. Rest in peace, mate.”

A further message was posted later yesterday to inform customers the bar and restaurant would be closed for at least two weeks.

It said: “The tragic passing of Jason has left a huge hole here at Tŷ Coz.

“We managed to ‘keep the show on the road’ without him last week – we believe he would have wished for that – however the strain on the remaining members of the team was absolutely enormous and certainly not sustainable. As a result, we have decided to close until at least March 27 to give ourselves time to sort things out.

“Further updates will be provided via this page.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding.”

The posts have attracted many comments from customers, with one describing Mr Lewis as a “lovable character”. Another remembered him as a “lovely man”.

Mr Lewis was last seen at around 1.30am on March 5 near the entrance to Caernarfon Castle after going missing from his home in the town.

Sergeant Kenny Temple Morris said: “At this time his death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner has been informed.

“Our thoughts are very much with his family and on their behalf I’d ask their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
