Fancy a walking challenge?
ST David’s Hospice is delighted to announce a brand new event – The Llŷn Three Day Walking Challenge – which will take place on Thursday, July 5 to Saturday, July 7.
The Llŷn Three Day Challenge is a bespoke walking event, taking place on the Llŷn Peninsula to raise funds for St David’s Hospice, which provides local hospice care to patients and their families living with an advanced illness in Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.
The event will also support local charity, O Ddrws I Ddrws which provides local community transport on the Llŷn Peninsula.
It is hoped the new event will raise significant funds for the hospice and it will also see a number of key local organisations working in partnership for the benefit of the local community and its people. The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is sponsoring this year’s event. The organisation’s aim is to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Llŷn, safeguard wildlife, historic features and culture. All of these elements will be featured throughout the three days of the coastal path walk as participants pass numerous places of interest and can enjoy the beautiful and unique wildlife along the way.
The Exercise Referral scheme, O Ddrws i Ddrws and Keep Wales Tidy are other examples of event partners which will come together for this event. The route follows the picturesque Welsh Coastal Path with panoramic views of the Llŷn Peninsula and beyond. Day one starts in Abersoch and finishes in Rhiw (12.8 miles); day two starts Rhiw and finishes in Porthor (12.4 miles) and day three starts in Porthor and finishes in Porthdinllaen, Morfa Nefyn (13.3 miles).
This event is not for the fainthearted as each walking day is expected to be around eight hours on tough terrain. For this reason, training is advised and a good level of fitness is required to complete all three days.
All participants must be over the age of 16 in order to take part and there is an option to walk one, two or three days.
Registration for individual days is £15 and registration for all three days is £30.
