Morgan shines in five-wicket win for Cofis

-

IAN MORGAN produced career-best figures of 6-28 as he inspired Caernarfon to a five-wicket victory at Llanrwst seconds in the North Wales Cricket League 2nd XI West Division last Saturday.

The Rwsters won the toss and chose to bat first, but were dismissed for just 96 with much owed to Scott Thomas for his battling 56.

Morgan’s haul off nine overs was well backed up by Sameer Yusuf with 2-21.

Caernarfon slumped to 19-3 in reply before that man Morgan (47 no) and Richie Parry (16) put the visitors in control with a stand of 55.

The Cofis made it to 101-5 in the 24th over, securing a 12-3 victory.

After a recent great run of form, Pwllheli came crashing back down to earth with a 10-wicket loss at Llandudno in the Premier Division.

Matthew Jones collected 3-26 and Dan Evans 3-47 as Pwll, who elected to bat first, were dismissed for just 120, Chris Moore heading the chart with 32.

Evans (65 not out) and Jones (39 no) then put on an unbroken century stand for the first wicket as Tudno coasted to 121-0 off 27.2 overs for a 15-0 verdict.

Pwllheli Seconds also failed to register a single point in their home defeat at the hands of high-flyers St Asaph Seconds in the 2nd XI West Division.

Saints batted first and rattled up 268-3, David Lloyd 98 not out, Andrew Pierce 63 and Mark Dine 54.

Despite a fantastic 115 from skipper Neil Williams, eight-man Pwllheli’s reply ended at 153-7.

This Saturday, Pwllheli Firsts will host Northop in the Premier Division, while, in the 2nd XI West Division, Caernarfon welcome Llandudno Seconds to Coed Helen.
