Fresh faces for Bethel

- Dave Jones

BETHEL Ladies Football Club’s squad will benefit from a dynamic sprinkling of youth in the coming season.

Many of the team which were runners-up in the North Wales Girls Under-16 League and won the cup last term will step up to the seniors for 2018/19.

And that can only be good news for an ever-improving side coached by Ben Bolton and Aaron JonesEvans.

Players moving up this season include:

Erin Allen: Under-16s captain last season. Very tenacious, vocal left back whose communication skills and ability to read the game bought a lot of stability and organisation to the U16s.

Erin Maloney: Striker who can play anywhere along the front line. Scored 47 goals for the U16s last season. Lighting pace with a natural ability to finish chances off.

Yasmin Williams: A midfield general who would pull the strings and dictate a game at any and all levels. Goes about her work quietly but most certainly effectively.

Jody Cain: A battler in midfield who breaks up play and sets teams off on the attack with minimum ease. Fitness and the ability to read the game is among her locker of talent.

Anest Hâf: A tall, calm, ball-atyour-feet all rounder. Another young talent who can dictate a pace of a game. With her combination of speed, strength and pure ability with the ball at her feet she will be a very fine addition.

Kasey Allsup: Attack-minded, tenacious player. Energy to burn and the willingness to run and hassle a back-four through 90 minutes.

Katie Houghton: Little midfield maestro. Wonderfully skilful with the ball and a very impressive ability to place a pass that would slice open any defence.

Jessica Lane: Strong, fearless, fit and ready for a battle with any striker that plays against her. No nonsense defender with one of – if not the – longest throw ins in the NWWFL.

As well as these players who will turn 16 at the start of the next campaign, Catrin Evans and Llio Non will join the seniors in mid-season.

As these players have been under Bolton’s management during their U14 and U16 seasons it should be a seamless transition into the seniors team. Mixed with the experience, talent and togetherness already at Bethel Ladies, the future is very bright and exciting for the whole team.

Courtney Vanblydenstein has left the club after seven years to concentrate on her university degree and to vice-captain her uni team. Everyone at Bethel Ladies wishes her all the best.
