Determined Pwllheli side leapfrog to top

PWLLHELI are new Division One leaders after they saw off Tim o Walis 34-25 in the latest round of matches in the Winllan Pant Du Gwynedd and Anglesey Netball League’s Division One.

The Llŷn side were 18-14 to the good at half time, lost the third quarter 7-6, but pulled out a big effort in the last, which they dominated 10-4 to secure the points which leapfrogs them above Arfon Ladies to the summit.

Menai Mavericks celebrated a fine 35-28 win over Primos.

The Anglesey side led 10-7 after the first quarter and 17-13 at the midway point.

Mavericks stretched the gap to 25-18 entering the last before a thrilling end segment featured 10 goals apiece.

Charlotte Lewis was named Player of the Match for the Mavericks, with Claire Coles-Williams voted best for Primos.

Dyffryn Ladies turned on the power in the second half to sweep aside Holyhead 31-12.

Leading just 11-7 at the split, Dyffryn won quarter three 9-2 and the fourth 11-3.

In the only match played, Arfon Celts swept aside Porthmadog 35-16.

Arfon were in command from the start, bossing the opener 12-2 before Port improved in the second, which they lost just 6-5.

However, Celts scored 11 goals to Port’s five in the third, making the result a formality going into the last.
