DESPITE taking an early lead through Sion Jones, Waunfawr ended up 4-1 losers at Gwynedd League highflyers Bro Goronwy last Saturday.
Bro captain Dylan Jones’ goalbound header had to be pushed aside by Beganifs stopper Stuart Williams early on before the visitors pounced to take the lead.
Poor marking left the far post wide open for the ball to be returned across goal where Sion Jones buried his chance from six yards.
Waun’s Aled Pritchard’s snapshot failed to find the target as well as Sion Jones being unable to double the lead, failing to keep his chipped effort below the crossbar.
Taylor Jones pounced on Jason Owen’s short back pass but was denied by Stuart Williams before Andy Williams rolled back the years with a sublime finish to make it all square.
Turning a pair of defenders inside out, Williams wrapped his left foot around the ball to curl into the top corner of the net via the post and crossbar.
Tam Morton could not keep his header on target as Bro applied all the pressure up to the interval.
It told after 37 minutes, Liam Griffiths’ flighted corner causing the damage for Sam Carter to connect with the drop down and rifle into the net to turn the match on its head.
A more settled performance after the break from Lee Potter’s men enabled them to get the goals to comfortably secure the maximum points.

Williams again denied Taylor Jones, this time saving his far post header, before Gareth Owen performed heroics in pulling off a point-blank stop to thwart Shaun Roberts’ effort.
Andy Williams showed composure in abundance when sent clear, taking the ball in his stride to leave a low finish under the keeper for his second to make it 3-1.
Morton twice went close, poor finishing in a good position and also smacking his shot back off the post, before he was involved in Williams earning the match ball.
Putting the keeper under pressure forced the ball to drop down where Morton kept it alive and watched his shot blocked, only for the evergreen striker Williams to follow up and hammer the ball into the roof of the net for his hattrick.
