A magnificent seven see Bethel make it five wins out of five

-

Women’s Football LEADERS Bethel romped to a 7-0 win over Airbus to make it five straight wins in North Wales Women’s League Division One.

Last Sunday’s clash at Cae Seilo, Felinheli, saw the hosts off to a flyer.

After 10 minutes of pressure, the deadlock was broken. Ffion Williams forced the Airbus right back into losing the ball, and the striker squared it across for partner Erin Maloney to tap into an empty net.

It was two on the half-hour as a lovely move down the right between Maloney and Leonie Prytherch led to the latter whipping in a perfect cross for Ffion Williams to volley home.

Ffion Williams then made it three just before half time, as her header from Yasmin Williams’ free kick went through the goalkeeper’s legs.

It was more one-way traffic in the second half as Bethel continued to stamp their authority on the match. Ffion Williams sealed her hat-trick when Maloney burst down the right hand side, leaving her marker before delivering for Williams to score her 12th of the season.

Striker Sioned Phillips made it five when she was first to react after Jody Cain’s effort rattled off the post.

Substitute Katie Houghton found herself in space in the area and finished off a lovely Prytherch-inspired move before Cain wrapped up the victory after she smashed home from 10 yards, helped by Gwenno Gibbard Bolton’s assist.

Another clean sheet and convincing win for Bethel who remain top on goal difference. The club thanks CPD Felinheli for use of its facilities. ● Under-14s manager Llio Emyr, U16s and ladies manager Ben Bolton and firstteam captain Gwenno Gibbard Bolton are running the Cardiff Half Marathon this Sunday to raise money for the club.
