Low-flying Canaries still without a point after defeat

CAERNARFON Town led Briton Ferry Llansawel 2-1 at half time in the Welsh Premier Women’s League, but the Cofis remain without a point after ending up 4-2 losers.

Alishia Donohue and Ffion Owen struck for the Canaries in the opening half, giving the hosts genuine hope of a first win, but the South Walians rallied decisively in the second 45 minutes.

In North Wales Women’s League Division One, Bethel maintained their remarkable start to the season with a 7-0 drubbing of Airbus to remain top. A report on that game appears on page 46.

Pwllheli were beaten 4-1 by Denbigh Town, Awen Hughes with a consolatio­n for the visitors.

Llanfair United recorded a fifth victory in a row, a second-half Gemma Jones strike being enough to beat a battling Kinmel Bay 1-0.

Prestatyn secured their first win, defeating Northop Hall 4-2, whose goals were provided by Becca Hughes.

Millie O’Connor (2), Emily Luke and Shannon Hobbs scored for the hosts.

Lexi Crawley netted four times as Amlwch Town romped to a 7-1 victory over Mountain Rangers in Division Two.

Cerys Gadd, Shannon Thomas and Ashleigh Jones added one each for the Anglesey side, Kelly Markham replying.

In Div Two, Wrexham vs Rhyl Developmen­t was 2-2, while Penrhyn Bay v Corwen was postponed.
