DOGS PARTY: a Christmas “Pawty” for Dogs will be held at Market Hall in Caernarfon on December 9, 1-6pm. Pooches and their humans all being able to experience something new and exciting just for their pooches. Booking can be made via Dog Furiendly’s Website or facebook page. Santa Paws will be there along with stalls and a fun pub quiz. Goodie bags will also be given to ticket holders on the day. CANDLELIT CAROLS: Start the Christmas season on Advent Sunday, this Sunday evening, December 2, 6pm, at a service of Carols by Candleligh­t in Castle Square Church, Caernarfon. Coffee and mince pies will be served afterwards. A very warm welcome to all. ARFON WI: Has been celebratin­g its 50th birthday. First they held a dinner at the Celtic Royal Hotel on October 17, where members competed in a quiz on how much they remembered about 1968. The celebratio­ns continued at the monthly meeting, which was also their AGM, when Carol Williams was re-elected President. The committee had prepared refreshmen­ts in 60s style, and members reminisced about what they were doing in 1968. Arfon meet on the second Wednesday of each month, at 7.30 in the Institute Building. At the next meeting, on December 12, Ann Catrin Evans, jeweller and sculptor, will talk about her work. CROESO DOLIG: Lighting up Criccieth for Christmas. Welsh singer-songwriter Nesdi Jones will visit her hometown of Criccieth on Thursday evening,November 29 at 5.30pm to officially switch on Criccieth’s Christmas lights and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere as shops stay open late for shopping specials. Local children will sing carols and Santa’s Grotto will be open at the Prince of Wales. Making the evening extra special will be a performanc­e by Cor Meibion Dwyfor (who will later sing at the Bryn Hir). This late night shopping and switch on of the town’s Christmas lights is a tremendous success each year as businesses and local organisati­ons pull together to arrange the evening. The Croeso Dolig committee want to share the special atmosphere that Criccieth always has during the Christmas season with everyone.
