Celts U18s team maintain their unbeaten record for the season

-

CAERNARFON Celts U18s travelled to Holywell last Tuesday to play the Bromborough Bulldogs in the North Wales Basketball Junior League.

The Celts were looking to maintain their unbeaten record for the season and an impressive first quarter saw them take an early 18 to 6 lead.

Celts guard and Wales International Sean Jones started the 2nd quarter on fire, scoring three quick baskets and also making his free throws. The ever improving Joe Hooton added to the Celts’ lead with two well-taken three-pointers as the Celts accumulated 22 points to Bulldogs 8, the half ending, Celts 40 – 14 Bulldogs.

The second half began as the first had ended with Cai Jones and Sean Jones continuing to make their baskets whilst determined defence from the Celts kept the Bulldogs at bay.

With the Bulldogs unable to break down Celts’ dogged defence the victory was never in doubt in the last quarter of the game, the Caernarfon side ending worthy winners. Final score Celts 71 – 27 Bromborough Bulldogs.

Celts MVP and top scorer with an outstanding 33 points was Sean Jones with Cai Jones contributing 14 points.

A busy week ahead for the Celts as they see the Under 16s travel to Holywell on Tuesday to play Wrexham Warriors, then on Wednesday Celts U14s welcome Ynys Mon U14s to the Arfon Leisure Centre at Caernarfon.

Lastly, Celts Seniors welcome Deeside Dragons to the Brailsford centre on Thursday for a North Wales League encounter.
