PERVERT FILMED MEN IN TOILETS
VICTIM SAW CAMERA OVER TOP OF CUBICLE
A PERVERT caught filming another man urinating in a public loo was found to have on his phone a stash of similar videos of men using the toilet.
Keith Braziel stuck his device over the top of a cubicle a man was relieving himself in.
The victim looked up and saw the phone, and then left the public toilets in Ganllwyd near Dolgellau and rang the police.
He spotted the man who’d done the covert recording, which turned out to be Braziel, getting into a Vauxhall van and driving away.
Police stopped him and seized his mobile phone.
When they examined it they found 33 similar videos of people urinating.
Braziel claimed that he had contacted the men online, and they consented to being filmed.
But this was later found not to be true.
At Caernarfon magistrates court last Thursday, Braziel pleaded guilty to the Ganllwyd incident in September 2017 and three similar offences in Aberystwyth between June 1 and July 29 of that year.
Diane Williams, prosecution, said Braziel had intended to record footage of men urinating for his own sexual gratification.
Dafydd Roberts, defending, said the 31-year-old, of Station Road in Tregaron, could not explain why he’d done what he’d done, and that he’d previously been a man of good character.
Deputy district judge Gerallt Jones said the offences were a “serious and disturbing course of conduct” and could have led to a prison sentence.
But he considered a community order would benefit both Braziel and the community at large.
During the next three years he must attend courses as directed by the Probation Service.
He must also carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £170 costs.
His name and address will be included in the Sexual Offenders Register for five years.
