Wine shop in Gwynedd named the best in UK

-

A WINE shop in Gwynedd has taken a coveted national prize.

Gwin Llŷn Wines based in Pwllheli on the Llŷn was set up 13 years ago by Dean and Margaret Pritchard.

Now the “little shop” has been named Independent Drinks Retailer of the Year 2019.

In order to be considered for this award, Gwin Llŷn were visited anonymously by the awards judging panel and were assessed on range of stock, sourcing, appearance and business success

Martin Green, editor of Drinks Retailing News, said: “This was a ferociously competitive category with some very strong retailers from across the UK vying for glory, but ultimately Gwin Llŷn Wines stood above the rest thanks to its superb all-round offering.

“The most striking aspect at Dean and Margaret Pritchard’s specialist drinks store in Pwllheli is the high level of attention to detail.

“Every single one of its many hundreds of wines is displayed with a tasting note.

“The good people of Pwllheli can consider themselves fortunate to have such an excellent beers, wines and spirits merchant on their doorsteps.”

Dean said: “It meant so much to us to be able to bring this award home to Pen Llŷn and share it with our customers and suppliers without whom we would be nothing.

“We put our heart and soul into what we do; the business is such a huge part of our life and is so much more than just a job.”
