SINGING FOR FUN: Lleisiau’r Byd World Voices is a friendly and informal community choir. REMEMBRANCE: Next Monday(July 1st) 120 years ago,the biggest disaster in Dinorwig’s history took place in Pwllheli during a Sunday School trip when nine children and three adults drowned in a boating accident. Four homes in Dinorwig were affected.Those who passed away were Charles Davies (13) Bron Elidir, the brothers Richard (15) and Thomas (12) from Tanybwlch,the whole family from Tŷ’n y Fawnog namely Owen (33), Ellen (27) Ellen(10) William Edward(6) and Owen Parry (3) and four members from Tŷ Ddewi(Brookfield today) John (36) John Rowland (12), Catherine Ann(10) and Ellen(6) All were buried in Llandinorwig Cemetery in Deiniolen and there is a memorial for them inside the Church. All were remembered in the book “Pêl Goch ar y Dŵr”(Red Ball on the Water) written by Idris Thomas who was born and brought up in Dinorwig. Please remember the nine children and the three adults who perished next Monday and light a candle in their memory.
