BUSY SUNDAY FOR GOG TRI

SUNDAY was a busy day with members of GOG Triathlon Club taking part in events across the region. Denbigh Sprint Triathlon was held on Sunday, the 10 GOGs taking part came home with a number of prizes. Adrian Leonard took first place in the men’s race and Vicky Ronald took second in the ladies’ race. Other notable results for the club were age group prizes for Russell Godwin, Chris Wynne and Malcolm Harrison and Nicola Tomlinson, Ceri Hughes and Susi Hooson in the ladies’ race.

At the Always Aim High Cardiff Triathlon Andy Williams was first to finish for the GOGs in 2.14.45. Next home was Neil Vicars Harris in 2.17.27. Alan Newell finished in 2.40.45.

At the Castle Series Cholmondeley Castle Multiport Festival Merf Jones took on his first Standard Distance Aquabike race and finished comfortably in first in 1.45.59. Lisa Hughes raced the Sprint and took second place in 1.14.02.

Further afield in Cork Brian Bennett took part in the inaugural Ironman: in desperate conditions he finished in 14.12.42.

In running news, last week Laurie and David Griffith ran the Ras Llanddoged road race and were first in age in 55.49 and 1.10.25 respectively.

On Sunday at RunFest Wales Simon Cole finished first in the 5km race in a fantastic time of 15.40. Caitlin Owen was 18th overall and 3rd in age in 26.56. In the 10km Stephen Mills finished 6th overall in 41.33. In the half marathon Steven Owen was 31st in 1.49.30. Emma HughesMarshall was 29th female in 2.16.59.

Andy Jones was at the Moel Hebog fell race finishing in 1.10.00.

Finally, at the Merebrook 15km run Tony Price-Jones finished in 1.06.16. Hayley Price-Jones clocked 1.26.09.
