THE KINDERGARTEN TEACHER (12)
GRIPPING English-language remake of the Israeli drama of the same title. Kindergarten teacher Lisa Spinelli’s (Maggie Gyllenhaal) poetry fails to impress evening class teacher Simon (Gael Garcia Bernal). In one session, Lisa recites verse composed by her five-year-old student, Jimmy (Parker Sevak), and passes off his poem as her own. Simon gives the work a glowing reception and Lisa surmises that Jimmy is a “young Mozart” in need of nurturing and assiduously inserts herself into the boy’s life.

CAPTAIN MARVEL (12)
ORIGIN story for one of Marvel Comics’ most powerful heroes. Vers (Brie Larson) is a member of an elite military unit called Starforce, protectors of the Kree empire. She fights with mentor Yon Rogg (Jude Law) and other warriors against the Skrull led by commander Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). During one battle, Vers crashlands on 1995 Earth where Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson), a low-ranking member of S.H.I.E.L.D., discovers a link between Vers and missing US air force pilot Carol Danvers.

EVERYBODY KNOWS (15)
THRILLER. Laura (Penelope Cruz) returns to her Spanish homeland from Argentina with children Irene (Carla Campra) and Diego (Ivan Chavero) to attend the wedding of her sister Ana (Inma Cuesta). Her husband Alejandro (Ricardo Darin) remains in Buenos Aires for work. Consequently, Laura spends time with childhood friend Paco (Javier Bardem). At the reception, Irene is kidnapped. The abductors demand €300,000 and Paco takes charge of raising funds, to the fury of his wife Bea (Barbara Lennie).
