SENSITIVEL­Y observed drama. Holly BurnsBeeby (Julia Roberts) returns from Christmas shopping with her level-headed daughter Ivy (Kathryn Newton) and six-year-old son Liam (Jakari Fraser) to find her oldest child Ben (Lucas Hedges), a recovering drug addict, standing in the driveway. He has come home for Christmas, from the sober living house where he has been receiving treatment. Holly is delighted, but Ivy and her stepfather Neal (Courtney B Vance, pictured with Roberts) are apprehensi­ve, so Holly vows to take full responsibi­lity for Ben.

FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS (12) ★★★★★

A CRABS-TO-RICHES fairy tale inspired by a true life story. London-based music executive Danny (Daniel Mays) heads to Cornwall on a stag weekend with boss Troy (Noel Clarke), colleague Driss (Vahid Gold) and groom-to-be Henry (Christian Brassingto­n). They see locals singing sea shanties and Troy jokingly suggests Danny offer them a record deal. Danny records Jim (James Purefoy) and the rest of the group and, as he spends quality time in Port Isaac, he nurtures a crush on Jim’s daughter Alwyn (Tuppence Middleton, pictured with Mays).

TURNER Prize nominee Richard Billingham has frequently meditated on family history in his photograph­s and videos, including the 1996 book Ray’s A Laugh, which documented the relationsh­ip between his alcoholic father Ray and chain-smoking mother Liz.

His feature film directoria­l debut about growing up in a Black Country council flat, lays bare tensions between Ray (Justin Salinger), Liz (Ella Smith, pictured), Richard, his brother Jason and lodger Will (Sam Gittins)
