WIDOWERS AND WIDOWS: Social group covering Anglesey, Bangor, Caernarfon and Llyn, set up for widowed people to enjoy life again in the company of other widowed people who understand. As a guide it is suggested people aged 50-70 will get the most from membership, as it aims to be active, out and about. At the moment it meets regularly in Bangor, Menai Bridge and Caernarfon and also meet up weekly for walks, and go to opera, ballet, gigs, cinema, meals, pub quiz and weekends away. BLOOD CANCER: If you or any of your family of friends are affected by lymphoma, myeloma, leukaemia or any other blood cancer, there is now a support group that meets on the first Thursday of alternate months in Bangor from 7pm to 8.30pm at St David’s outpatient­s department, Ysbyty Gwynedd. DYSLEXIA AWARENESS: The Miles Dyslexia Centre will host a programme of events over August 20-22. These will be a series of lectures and practical workshops, suitable for educators and parents, from 10am-4pm, covering such topics as: Recognisin­g and Identifyin­g Dyslexia; Multisenso­ry Teaching Approaches; The Social and Emotional Effects of Dyslexia; Dyscalculi­a and Maths; Teaching Reading and Spelling.
