Woman cut free and flown to hospital after Llŷn crash

A COUNCIL worker was taken to hospital after a crash shut a major road in Gwynedd for several hours.

Emergency services were called to the A470 in Trawsfynyd­d at around 8am last Wednesday following the crash between a Peugeot 306 and a Volvo.

Gwynedd Council said the crash involved one of their pick-up A WOMAN was flown to hospital after a two-vehicle crash shut a Gwynedd road for more than seven hours.

The A499 in Llanaelhae­arn on Pen Llŷn was closed at 9.15am on Saturday following the collision which saw the casualty having to be cut from her vehicle by the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

Police advised motorists to avoid the area if possible and put diversions in place while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

North Wales Police confirmed the woman was taken to Stoke hospital after her vehicle hit a wall.

A fire service spokespers­on said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the vehicles and said a staff member was in hospital.

A spokesman said: “We can confirm that one of the council’s pick-up vehicles was involved in an RTC on the A470, in the Trawsfynyd­d area.

“A member of staff has been taken to hospital and we will continue to support him.” A499 at 9.15am.

“It involved two vehicles and one person was trapped.

Police closed the road in both directions while the incident was dealt with, leading to long delays for motorists.

A Police spokesman said: “We were called at 8am reporting an RTC involving a Peugeot 306 and a Volvo.

“The road was blocked by the entrance to the power station.

“The casualty has been since been released.

“Two crews from Pwllheli

“The Welsh Ambulance Service did attend.

“Highways came to the scene and cleared the road as there was a lot of debris and some fuel spilled.”

The Welsh Ambulance Service were asked to comment.

Traffic Wales warned of major delays to motorists before the road was reopened at around 10.30am. and Nefyn attended.”
