Feast of top DJs, great tributes and upcoming bands at Rock the Park

THE Rock The Park Music Festival, billed as the biggest in Wales, and now in its third year, returns to Borras Hall Lane, Wrexham on the weekend of August 9-11.

Presented by Cyclone Events, this family-friendly festival promises 60 live acts, at three large arenas (one of them being tented), for 15,000 people, and there will be camping available.

The Friday night “Dance Classics” event include world class original DJs including risque rappers Outhere Brothers, Swedish Eurodance/Techno/Trance DJ Basshunter (real name Jonas Erik Altberg), Love Inc, Andy Whitby, Kelly Llorena, Dee Dee from Belgium, Rozalla and Ian Redman of Ultrabeat, to name just a few, with many flying in exclusivel­y for Rock the Park.

Saturday and Sunday will feature the UK’s best tribute acts to rock and pop artistes from a wide range of genres including Foo Fighters, Robbie Williams, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Alice Cooper, Rage Against the Machine, Pink, Coldplay, Stereophon­ics and many others.

There will also be a platform for local up-andcoming artistes to show off their talent. These include Megan Lee (one third of the Country Music trio Blue Genes), Wrexham-based acoustic rock duo Tillerama, Chester Grunge/Rock/Punk/ Alternativ­e outfit Slipperfac­e, Scottish rockers She Burns Red, currently unsigned Wrexham band Before The Storm, and many others.

Whatever your taste in music, there really should be something to appeal to everybody.

The bands and singers will be performing from noon until dark, with a firework spectacula­r to finish.

There will also be fairground rides provided by George Simon’s Fun Fairs, with favourites such as the Waltzer, Miami trip, Sizzler, Dodgems and many more. The Festival Village has a number of bars and places to eat (including its very own inflatable pub), plus many stalls for your shopping.

No food may be brought into the event, but there is a wide range of catering units on the ground offering a vegan and vegetarian options, and a wide range of world foods including Mexican, Indian, Portuguese, Chinese, Caribbean, Italian and American, so you certainly won’t go hungry. There will also be a choice of

dessert and sweet units, and a breakfast unit selling the world’s best bacon baps (at least the festival’s organisers think so).

■ Tickets can only be purchased through the festival’s official website: www.rockthepar­k.co.uk, or through its official partner Eventbrite. Festival organisers have warned not buy tickets through any other website, or through second-hand selling websites.

Organisers said anyone whose name does not match the name on their ticket will not be granted access to the festival.
