WIDOWERS AND WIDOWS: Social group covering Anglesey, Bangor, Caernarfon and Llyn, set up for widowed people to enjoy life again in the company of other widowed people who understand. As a guide it is suggested people aged 50-70 will get the most from membership, as it aims to be active, out and about. At the moment it meets regularly in Bangor, Menai Bridge and Caernarfon and also meet up weekly for walks, and go to opera, ballet, gigs, cinema, meals, pub quiz and weekends away. BLOOD CANCER: If you or any of your family of friends are affected by lymphoma, myeloma, leukaemia or any other blood cancer, there is now a support group that meets on the first Thursday of alternate months in Bangor from 7pm to 8.30pm at St David’s outpatient­s department, Ysbyty Gwynedd. As well as meeting others with similar experience­s, there will be interestin­g speakers and informativ­e discussion and the kettle is always on. PALS SUPPER CLUB: (People Alone Like Socializin­g) Gwynedd, Anglesey & Conwy. If you’re alone (for whatever reason) over 55 and interested in meeting others in the same situation, for supper once a month. DYSLEXIA AWARENESS: The Miles Dyslexia Centre will host a programme of events over August 20-22. These will be a series of lectures and practical workshops, suitable for educators and parents, from 10am-4pm, covering such topics as: Recognisin­g and Identifyin­g Dyslexia; Multisenso­ry Teaching Approaches; The Social and Emotional Effects of Dyslexia; Dyscalculi­a and Maths; Teaching Reading and Spelling. This series of lectures/ workshops will provide an excellent opportunit­y to learn more about Dyslexia / Dyscalculi­a alongside the MDC team who will be available to offer expert advice and guidance. CYMDEITHAS HANES BEDDGELERT: Monday, August 12, 11am, Pebbles On The Beach - a geological walk on Criccieth beach led by Clive Hudson. Meet at the east end of Criccieth promenade (next to Dylan’s Cafe). Walk is approx 2 miles - at a slow pace to examine the geology - to the headland of Craig Ddu (Black Rock), and return by the same route.
