Fundraising concert at Pwllheli Rugby Club

-

LIVE music from a five-piece rock band is part of a fundraiser to say thank you to charities in Gwynedd and beyond which is being held on August 17 at Pwllheli Rugby Club.

Fatman Alley will be live at Pwllheli Rugby Club from 8pm with a disco, bar, glitter stall, sweetie stall and more, in order to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance, Clic Sargent and a school in Gambia. It’s all being organised by 17-year-old Erin Hitchcock (pictured right) who works in Abersoch Surf Shop.

Pwllheli Rugby Club have kindly donated their space for free and are helping promote the event.

Erin’s teenage cousin Simon Gerry died in April after a long battle against cancer.

His family stayed at one of their houses in Bristol whilst Simon had nearly a year of chemotherapy.

Simon himself raised more than £15,000 before he died on Easter Sunday.

That devastation and the shock of seeing her sister go into anaphylactic shock and being flown to Bangor from Abersoch has stayed with Erin who’s never forgotten that flight saved 13-year-old Thea’s life.

The family want to raise money for Wales Air Ambulance too.

Erin is also visiting a school in Gambia in November to help teach junior school children there and has been fundraising all year for the trip.

Erin says: “I spend all my holidays in Abersoch and Pwllheli working at Abersoch Surf Shop so this was the place I wanted to do a gig.

“My Dad is in a band so I persuaded him to get his mates together and put on a show.

“They love doing it so it wasn’t too hard.”

Fatman Alley have previously performed several times at the Ty Coch Inn in Morfa Nefyn as lead singer Richard Beeken has close family ties with the area.

Tickets are available online at fatmanalley.co.uk or in Abersoch Surf Shop.

There’s also a facebook page with all the information.

Kids are welcome but aren’t free.

Tickets are £5 each.
