THIS well-crafted blockbuste­r nods to the past 11 years of Marvel Comics mayhem. Thanos (Josh Brolin) has devastated an overpopula­ted universe, sounding a death knell for billions. Before his demise, Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) issued a distress call to Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and she arrives on Earth to mourn her fallen mentor. Her abilities may tip the balance of power back in favour of grief-stricken survivors including Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth, pictured) et al.

BEL CANTO (15) ★★★★★

ROMANTIC thriller. Japanese industrial­ist Katsumi Hosokawa (Ken Watanabe) travels to a volatile South American nation under the auspices of building a factory. Vice president Ruben Ochoa (Eddie Martinez) hopes to secure an investment by hosting a concert by American soprano Roxanne Coss (Julianne Moore, pictured with Watanabe). During the recital, guerrilla rebels, led by commandant Benjamin (Tenoch Huerta), storm the party and demand the release of political prisoners.

MARLON WAYANS adopts six roles in this madcap Netflix comedy. Alan (Wayans) and his partner Maria (Bresha Webb) both pictured, are looking forward to the birth of their first child. When Alan looks into his family tree he learns his birth mother actually had sextuplets . Searching for answers, meets his long lost brother Russell, who agrees to help track down the other children, including Sister Dawn, who turns out to be an exotic dancer incarcerat­ed in Masonville Correction­al Facility, and Baby Pete who is in need of a kidney transplant.
