AHEARTBROKEN son has paid a tribute to his mother who died after being hit by a car that drove over her tent.

Richard Llew Evans’ mum and “best friend” Anna Roselyn Evans died in Ysbyty Gwynedd last Tuesday night.

Mrs Evans, 46, from Aberystwyth, was critically injured in the early hours of August 19, when a car ploughed into several tents at Rhyd y Galen campsite, near Bethel, Gwynedd.

Mr Evans wrote: “Tonight I had to say goodbye to the most amazing woman I’ve ever known.

“It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

“She was my mother, my best friend, my rock and I’m going to miss her so so much.

“She inspired me to do music, art and to always ‘do the next interesting thing’.

“I know I’ll do you proud. “I love you, Mam. I hope you’re dreaming of a starry night.

“Here’s to the next interesting thing.”

The mother-of-two worked

at Aberystwyth Arts Centre and was married to Huw Evans, a groundsman at Aberystwyth University.

A spokesman for the Aberystwyth Arts Centre said: “Anna was a valued member of the team at Aberystwyth Arts Centre and a much loved member of Aberystwyth’s artistic community. We are deeply saddened at the news of her untimely death and extend our sympathies to all her family at this most difficult time.”

Mrs Evans was one of three people injured in the incident. The others have been released from hospital.

Jake Waterhouse, of Hazel Walk, Partington, Greater Manchester, appeared before Llandudno magistrates last week.

The court heard he was driving his friend’s Subaru Impreza around the field before the collision.

He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to Mrs Evans by dangerous driving, failing to provide a breath specimen and driving without a licence or insurance.

His solicitor told the court Waterhouse accepted full responsibility and knew he “deserves to be punished”.

No indication of plea was made for a fifth charge of dangerous driving.

Magistrates imposed an interim driving ban on Waterhouse, who was further remanded in custody until his next appearance at Caernarfon Crown Court on September 23.
