£2,255 boost for air ambulance

-

A CAR enthusiasts’ group in Snowdonia has raised more than £2,000 for Wales Air Ambulance following recent events.

The group, which is less than a year old, held a car run, raising an impressive £2,255.15.

Wales Air Ambulance community coordinator Alwyn Jones recalls how the group came into existence: “Following a conversation between myself and a close friend – Paul Lomas about how to fundraise for the charity, the idea of a Ford owners club was mooted.

“Paul and his friend Aaron rallied support from interested Ford owners across Gwynedd, and by April they had over 50 members. After arranging a few ‘cars and coffee’ gatherings at Caernarfon Airport, the first main event was pencilled in the diary.”

Eryri Fords Gwynedd Evo Triangle Run saw a selection of Ford cars of all ages traverse a round trip of 127 miles, including the Evo Triangle stretch along the A5 main thoroughfare.

A popular route amongst the North Wales motoring community the ‘Evo Triangle’ as it is colloquially known stretches North-East from Pentrefoelas via the A543 until the Sportsman’s Arms. At the tip of the triangle the B4501 takes motorists south, passing Llyn Brenig, before re-joining the A5 at Cerigydrudion and then on to Pentrefoelas again.

“The run was well attended with many Ford owners turning up to take in the best of the Gwynedd countryside by road. We really are lucky have such unspoilt picturesque landscapes on our doorstep. The views are always breath-taking, so it is perhaps easy to see why so many people turned up. The event culminated at Caernarfon Airport where the catering services of the charity’s Caffi HEMS were greatly appreciated by all.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to all who attended the event and made it such a success. We are incredibly grateful to be nominated as the group’s charity of the year so look forward to many more events in the near future.

“Having support from groups such as Eryri Fords enables us to continue providing a lifesaving service for the people of Wales 365 days a year.”
