Pwllheli knocked out of FAW Trophy

PWLLHELI suffered an FAW Trophy exit against lower league opposition as Bangor 1876 won 3-1.

Jos Lloyd scored a brace and Cameron Barry also netted for the phoenix side with Gareth JonesEvans replying.

Nefyn United pipped Penmaenmaw­r Phoenix 3-2, Carl Jones, Dylan Sion Jones and Llyr Pennant scoring the goals and Waunfawr of the Gwynedd League pushed Welsh Alliance Llanberis all the way before losing out on penalties.

Llanberis led twice at Ffordd Padarn through Gethin Wakeham (pen) and Owain Jones, but Waunfawr levelled twice through Ioan Gwynedd and Guto Gwynedd to make it 2-2 after extra time.

Llanberis won the penalty shootout 4-3.

Aaron Thomas and Ashley Owen scored for Nantlle Vale in a 2-1 result against Blaenau Amateurs with Bryn Humphreys replying.

Alan Mark Owen (2), Carl Griffiths and captain Llion Jones were on the scoresheet in Llanrug United’s 4-2 victory at Y Felinheli.

League matches were few and far between due to the trophy but there were still a number of clashes and plenty of goals.

In the Welsh Alliance Reserves Division, Llanrug United and Penmaenmaw­r Phoenix drew 4-4, Josh Robinson, Gareth Griffiths (2) and Sam Griffiths the home scorers.

After seven straight victories leaders Trearddur Bay Bulls’ run came to a surprise ending in a 1-0 defeat at Bontnewydd.

Morgan Roberts scored the only goal of the match on 67 minutes for the home side.

Llanystumd­wy were beaten 2-1 by Ogwen Tigers.

Bro Goronwy and Talysarn Celts played out a 2-2 thriller at Cae Nerys.

Top-scorer Jac Thomas put Bro in front, but Celts came back to lead after 70 minutes with goals from Rhodri Davies and a Gavin Davies penalty.

However, substitute Rui Silva denied Talysarn as he equalised with his first touch to salvage a point for the Anglesey hosts.
