Amateurs well beaten by Hotspurs

BLAENAU Ffestiniog Amateurs were on the receiving end of a 4-0 thrashing by Holyhead Hotspur in the Welsh Alliance Division One.

Chris Jones put the Anglesey side ahead before Robert Jones made it 2-0 followed by Sam Ashworth and Dan McGinness strikes to seal the win.

Penrhyndeu­draeth hammered Llandyrnog United 7-2 with midfielder Steve Jones scoring twice to reach 100 goals in 266 games for the club.

Huw Quaeck and Iwan Thomas also bagged a brace apiece with Jack Jones (pen) adding another as Josh Jones scored twice for Llandyrnog.

Llanrug United’s clash with Prestatyn Sports ended 1-1, Kevin Lloyd for the home team, Dean Hyland replying, and 0-0 was the final score between Llanberis and Mynydd Llandegai.

In Division Two, Holyhead Town climbed to the summit with a 6-0 home caning of Pwllheli, Asa Thomas, Dale Murphy, Sion Thomas, Marc Thomas and Gary Jo Owen (2) scoring the goals.

In the Gwynedd League, Bontnewydd, who upset leaders Trearddur Bay Bulls previously, were brought crashing back down to earth when they lost 3-2 at home to struggling Llanystumd­wy.

The visitors’ goals came from Guto Roberts (pen), Mark Godfrey and Louis Galvin, with Josh Williams and Morgan Roberts on target for Bont.

Talysarn Celts were beaten 4-2 at home by Bangor 1876, who made it five straight league wins, in front of a huge crowd at Gloddfa Glai.

Glyn Tomos put the Celts in front but Dylan Williams and a Les Davies free-kick made it 2-1 to 1876 at half-time.

In the second half, Jamie Petrie scored twice, once from the spot, to clinch victory for the phoenix side before Gerwyn Williams netted late on for the home side.

Steve Jones and Dylan Sion Jones scored for Nefyn United in a 2-1 victory against Llangoed, Craig Jones replying for the Anglesey side.

Waunfawr were 2-0 winners against Bro Goronwy thanks to goals from Meurig Parry and Dylan Hughes.
