Heavy loss for Cofis but Pwllheli win

-

CAERNARFON suffered a huge defeat as they were swept aside 85-0 by Llandudno in the WRU National Plate.

The Goats produced a stunning team performance at Maesdu Road, completely overpowering the visitors in most departments of the match.

Captain Dave Davies powered his way through the visitors’ defence, touching down for the first of their 13 tries, with Ryan Pike adding two more points from the conversion. They continued to attack from deep inside their own half, and it was the pace of their back division that penetrated the visitors’ defence on 15 minutes with a Rhys Henderson touch down which Pike converted.

Rob Jones then touched down before Morgan Owen scored which Pike converted, and it was from a driving scrum over the try line that on 20 minutes Morgan Owen scored his second try of the match, which again Pike converted.

Centre Pat Coy made a telling break and with support play, that Pike received a try scoring pass to touch down, which he also converted on 30 minutes, and it was just before the half-time whistle that Pat Coy scored an unconverted try.

On 48 minutes from a line out the ball was quickly released by Nick Dundee along the backs, with Pike touching down near the posts giving himself an easy conversion.

Such was the Goats’ dominance of play that they were constantly on the attack with tries during the final 25 minutes by Pike, Jones, Henderson, Coy, Byrom Davies, Dundee, Dan O’Sullivan, with Pike converting six of the tries.

PWLLHELI were 38-7 winners at COBRA in their first round clash.

The first score did not come until the 26th minute when Pwllheli centre Deio Brunelli cut though to score his team’s first try.

Then Danial Williams used his pace to beat the cover. Osian Parry Jones added the conversion to give his side a 12-0 lead.

Pwllheli added a third try when scrum half Williams scored his second.

Nick Butterworth used his pace and strength to score Pwllheli’s fourth try and Parry Jones added the two points.

Brunelli then beat the cover to score his second try and Parry Jones slotted the conversion before youngster Peryf ab Owain scored the visitors’ last try and the two points were added before the hosts scored a consolation try.
