Game art delight for developer

-

A budding games developer’s digital creations impressed a video games company so much, they were chosen to actually appear in a smash hit video game.

Adam Oates, 20, from Caernarfon, who studied on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Games Development course at Coleg Llandrillo’s Rhos-on-Sea campus before recently commencing his degree course in Graphic Design at Carlisle University, has had his artwork included in a Formula 1-type game which boasts a thriving community of 1.5 million players.

Adam designs graphics/liveries and places them on 2D images of F1 cars before posting them on his social media channels. He got a message on Twitter from the founder of the company (iGP Games) and the creator of the game (iGP Manager), Jack Basford.

Jack was “really impressed” and asked Adam “how do you feel about having your designs included in the game?” A “thrilled” Adam set the scene: “I was playing pool in Bangor when I received the message. I was initially gobsmacked, but now I am delighted to have had my artwork included in such a hit game, and to receive recognition and a credit on the actual game, is the icing on the cake.” Adam has recently been informed that there is a strong possibility of more work in the future with the company.

Adam’s tutor Rob Griffiths said: “This is a tremendously exciting start to Adam’s career and will definitely increase his employability level. He is extremely talented and was a fantastic student throughout his studies here at the college.”
