Bro Ffestiniog are no match for Nant Conwy

-

VISITORS Nant Conwy proved too strong for Bro Ffestiniog, winning 43-8, but the final score was hardly a reflection of the match.

The first score came from a lineout deep inside Bro’s 22 and the ball was spread out to fly half Jack Ellis, who put centre Morgan Dafydd through the tightest of gaps before receiving the ball back, scoring and converting the try.

Nant soon doubled the score line after winning turnover ball on the halfway line.

Then flanker Iwan Jones dived onto the ball to score under the posts with Ellis adding the extras.

The second 20 minutes of the first half was all Bro.

Fly-half Edwyn Roberts’ penalty gave Bro their only points of an entertaining first half and the teams went into the break with the score at 14-3.

Soon after the restart Ellis extended his side’s lead after Bro were penalised for offside and then left wing Gethin Roberts crashed over in the corner – Ellis once more adding the conversion from out wide.

The bonus point try came from a lineout inside Bro’s 22. Centre Ifan Jones put full back Rhydian Jones through to score a well worked but unconverted try in the corner.

Another turnover ball by Nant saw the ball spread out wide and Gethin Roberts scored the try which also went unconverted.

The ball was spread out to Rhydian Jones, who pounced on his own kick through a number of Bro players who were unable to clear. Ellis excellently converted the try from out wide.

Bro had the final say when Tom James scored a consolation try.
