Trophy success for Vale but Nefyn lose

NANTLLE Vale romped to a 5-0 success against Barmouth and Dyffryn to reach the last 16 of the FAW Trophy with Aaron Thomas, Cynan Davies, Aaron Hughes, Tom Mahoney and Dion Roberts all on target.

Gwynedd League giantkille­rs Nefyn United eventually found the challenge of Welsh Alliance Division One leaders Denbigh Town too much and were beaten 5-1.

Jacob Walker scored a hat-trick, including two penalties and Mark Roberts a double, although Nefyn did take the lead through Steve Jones.

Elsewhere, Llanrug United suffered a late 1-0 defeat at home to Brymbo.

In the Welsh Alliance Division One, Brett Johns, Sion McHugh, Danny Calvert and Sam Jones were on target as Greenfield romped to a 4-0 success at Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs.

Conor Davies scored twice but was also shown a late red card in Glan Conwy’s narrow 3-2 win over Penrhyndeu­draeth.

Azzy Boyle was also on the mark for Glan, Adam Griffiths with both for the away side.

Llanberis were 7-4 winners in a thriller at basement side Prestatyn Sports.

Gareth Edwards (3), Ben Rowlands (2), Nidian Huws and an own goal scored for the visitors with Kris Owen (2), Ashley New and Rob Dunn replying for Sports.

In Division Two, it was 2-2 between Y Felinheli and Mochdre Sports, Iwan Owen and Gruff John the home scorers, Alex Williams for the visitors.

In the Gwynedd League, Luke Baum and Glyn Tomos were on target as Talysarn Celts edged past Waunfawr 2-1 with Dylan Hughes having given Waunfawr an early lead.

Mark Godfrey (3), Rob Rhys, Darren Parry and Gethin Owen were all on the scoresheet as Llanystumd­wy swept aside Llannerchy­medd 6-1, Tomos Jones scored a consolatio­n goal for the visitors from Anglesey.

Caergybi were also in good scoring form as they won 5-1 at Bontnewydd.

James Ryan (2), Ian Williams, Nathan Lewis and Glenn North were all on target for the visitors, Cai Penny Williams replying for the Gwynedd side.

A number of games were postponed.
