Bu Gwilym yn athro yn Ysgol Sarn Bach am dros deng mlynedd ar hugain. Cyfrannodd yn helaeth i fudiad yr Urdd yn Abersoch yn y 60au. Roedd Gwilym yn aelod brwd o Glwb Golff Abersoch, ac yn aelod o Glwb Bowlio Cylch Cymdeithas Llanengan. Un o’i bleserau mwyaf oedd mynychu’r Gymdeithas Lenyddol Llanengan a’r Cylch, lle bu’n llywyddu ar nifer o achlysuron. Roedd wrth ei fodd yn mynychu Cymdeithas Addysg i Oedolion am flynyddoed­d lawer. Bu’n glerc y cyngor plwyr am ddeugain o flynyddoed­d. Bu’n aelod ffyddlon o’r eglwys yn Abersoch a Llangian, ac yn offeiriad lleyg. Cynhaliwyd yr angladd ar ddydd Gwener, Tachwedd 8, gyda gwasanaeht cyhoeddus yn Eglwys Sant cian, Llangian, yna yn dilyn ym Mynwent Newydd y Bwlch, Llangengan. WIDOWERS AND WIDOWS: Social group covering Anglesey, Bangor, Caernarfon and Llyn, set up for widowed people to enjoy life again in the company of other widowed people who understand. As a guide it is suggested people aged 50-70 will get the most from membership, as it aims to be active, out and about. At the moment it meets regularly in Bangor, Menai Bridge and Caernarfon and also meet up weekly for walks, and go to opera, ballet, gigs, cinema, meals, pub quiz and weekends away. BLOOD CANCER: If you or any of your family or friends are affected by lymphoma, myeloma, leukaemia or any other blood cancer, there is a support group that meets on the first Thursday of alternate months in Bangor from 7pm to 8.30pm at St David’s outpatient­s department, Ysbyty Gwynedd. As well as meeting others with similar experience­s, there will be speakers and informativ­e discussion and the kettle is always on. NORTH WALES GUITAR CIRCLE: are celebratin­g their 14th year this November and as a celebratio­n they are holding a concert and fundraisin­g event. Music played will cover ALL genres – Classical, Slide, Jazz, Flamenco and other fingerstyl­es, on November 30 at 7.45pm. This year’s chosen charity is Alzheimer’s Society – all donations and raffle money from the evening will be presented to the local North Wales branch in Conwy. An Evening of Guitar - Baroque to Rock will be held at Split Willow in Llanfairfe­chan, who are foregoing their room hire for the evening. This will be a relaxed and informal evening with chances to win raffle prizes and a few nibbles for those who are a little peckish. This is the first time NWGC/CGGC have held their concert in Llanfairfe­chan – it is hoped that if successful it will be held again next November. BANGOR BIRD GROUP: has two special meetings to be held at Pontio on December 4 & 5 given by Dan Brown. On Wednesday, December 4 in Pontio’s lecture room 2, Dan Brown will give a talk titled “In search of the Mountain Ghost - Wildlife of the Tibetan Plateau”. On the trail of Snow Leopard and other wildlife of one of the world’s most remote and arduous regions. On Thursday, December 5 in Pontio’s lecture room 5 Dan will talk on” Megaherbs, Great Albatrosse­s and Giant Petrels - Exploring our Antipodal Seas and Islands” Discoverin­g the endemic flora and fauna of New Zealand’s sub-Antarctic islands and the rich seas which unite them.
