RECEIVERS CALLED IN TO DORMANT STATELY HOME ONE WEEK AFTER HOTEL ALSO ABRUPTLY CLOSES

- Owen Hughes

ACOUPLE who planned to transform Plas Glynllifon mansion into a hotel have started legal action against its co-owner – and welcomed the appointment of receivers.

In 2016 Paul and Rowena Williams bought the stately home near Caernarfon that was built in the 1830s/40s for Lord Newborough.

With the project stalling, they entered into a partnership with Mylo Capital Ltd – run by Myles Cunliffe – just over a year ago.

In addition, Mr Cunliffe took a stake in Seiont

Manor hotel in Llanrug, also owned by Mr and Mrs Williams.

Developments at Glynllifon ground to a halt last year, while Seiont Manor closed last Saturday.

Last week it was revealed receivers Duff & Phelps had been appointed to both properties after being appointed by Together Commercial Finance Ltd, who have charges against both sites.

Now it has been revealed court action is due to be launched by the couple at the High Court against Mylo Capital.

Lawyers from Glaisyers, who are representing Mr and Mrs Williams, say the action is being pursued over steps undertaken by Mylo Capital since becoming business partners.

This includes what they claim is the “unauthorised” closure of Seiont Manor.

The first hearing is due to take place at the High Court’s Business & Property Courts in Manchester on Friday.

Paul and Rowena Williams are the applicants in the case, with Mylo Capital, Plas Glynllifon Ltd, Rural Retreats and Development Ltd and Myles Andrew Cunliffe the respondents.

The couple said they supported the appointment of the receiver as it

“protects our interest” in the companies.

They added they were confident it was a “temporary measure” until the dispute between the parties is resolved.

They say their loan account with Together Commercial is up to date and will continue to be serviced.

Solicitors for Mylo Capital said any allegations of wrongdoing are strenuously denied.

They added the application due to be heard on Friday will be vigorously resisted.

Together Commercial declined to comment.

A spokeswoman Duff and Phelps for said:

“James Liddiment and Paul Greenhalgh, both of Duff and Phelps, were appointed LPA Fixed Charge Receivers to three assets owned by Plas Glynllifon Limited and

Rural Retreats & Development Limited.

“The assets in question are: 1) Seiont Manor Hotel, Caernarfon; 2) Plas Glynllifon, Caernarfon, and; 3) Polvellan

House, Looe.

“The receivers are currently undertaking a review of the assets subject to their appointment and liaising with all stakeholders in this regard.”
