Amateurs lose cup thriller to Mynydd

BLAENAU Ffestiniog Amateurs lost an absolute thriller in the Barritt Cup after visitors Mynydd Llandegai won 6-5 in extra time.

The Quarrymen were 5-3 up at one stage, but Mynydd fought back to make it 5-5 after 90 minutes before clinching victory in the added halfhour.

Meilir Williams and Sion Roberts netted a brace apiece and Iwan Griffiths also scored for the hosts.

In the Welsh Alliance Division One, Dylan Owen, Alan Mark Owen and Jonathan Sadler scored in Llanrug United’s very impressive 3-0 success at Bodedern Athletic.

Gwyn Pritchard Jones and Ifan Mansour found the net as Llanberis won 2-0 at Llandyrnog United, while Penrhyndeu­draeth edged to a 3-2 victory at Nantlle Vale.

Cai Henshaw, netting against his former club, Tom Hughes and Adam Griffiths were the Penrhyn scorers with Mathew Davies and Aaron Thomas responding.

In Division Two, Pwllheli and Y Felinheli drew 2-2. Goals from Dafydd Jones and Mark Jones put Pwll two up but Iwan Owen’s double rescued a point for Felin.

In the Gwynedd League, Llanystumd­wy were the latest victims for Bangor 1876 as they were beaten 11-0.

Dylan Summers-Jones scored four times, Jamie Petrie hit a double, with Les Davies, Lee McNulty, Sion Parry, Leon Owens and Harry Jones also on the scoresheet.

Nefyn United chalked up a mightily impressive 5-0 success at rejuvenate­d Glantraeth, Carl Jones striking twice, while Tomos Llewelyn Jones, Steve Jones and Dylan Sion Jones added one apiece.

Second-place Trearddur Bay Bulls were held 0-0 at home by Talysarn Celts, thus failing to avenge a 3-1 away loss to the same opposition last month.

Bontnewydd were beaten 4-2 by Llangoed with Aled Steele and Mathew Roberts (pen) scoring.

Waunfawr hammered Llannerchy­medd 8-2 with Osian Glyn (2), Rhodri Owen (2), Adam Lloyd (2), Meurig Parry and Shaun Roberts all scoring as the Beganifs eased to victory.
