Ladies gain vital victory over Ardudwy
CAERNARFON Ladies hockey team played their first hockey game of the year recently against Ardudwy seconds, who are top of the North Wales Women’s Hockey League Second Division and a major competitor for the Caernarfon crew.
The girls played well, despite the cold, responding to Ardudwy’s early goal in the first minutes of the game, equalising before half time.
The skills of some of the Caernarfon girls didn’t please Ardudwy with the opponents getting frustrated and appealing to the umpire on several occasions.
But Caernarfon continued to play fair and finished the second half with a second goal thanks to a short corner as the sun set spectacularly on Canolfan Brailsford.
Once again a great game for the player of the match, Manon (Jiws) Williams, and goals for Lois ParryJones and Ceri Welsh.
The Caernarfon side followed this victory up with a 3-0 win over Bangor City Ladies at the weekend. The team would like to thank the Padarn Lake Hotel in
Llanberis for sponsoring their new kit which, according to the girls, has brought them good luck so far!
Caernarfon’s next game is against Bangor University seconds on Saturday, February 8 and they will face the university’s third team on February 15.
Caernarfon are third in Division Two, having won seven out of eight so far this season.
They are six points behind leaders Ardudwy with two games in hand and well placed to put in a title challenge with much of the season still to go and everything to play for.
