WOMAN STRUCK WITH WINE GLASS DURING INCIDENT
ACYMRU Premier League manager and his wife were told they could face jail over violence in their local pub.
Caernarfon Town boss Gareth Huw Griffiths and his wife, Sian Louise Griffiths, both 43, appeared in the dock at Mold crown court on Friday morning.
The court heard the pair were involved in a violent incident at the Red Lion in Marford, near Wrexham.
Griffiths admitted an affray charge, while his wife – choking back tears – admitted unlawfully wounding a woman, assaulting another woman, and attacking a police officer.
An earlier court appearance heard one woman was struck with a wine glass during the disturbance on July 13 last year.
Barrister Duncan Bould said his client was a mother of two in her early 40s who did not have an “extensive” criminal record.
He asked the judge, Recorder Simon Mills, that a report should be made before sentencing.
Simon Rogers made a similar application for Griffiths.
Mr Recorder Simon Mills, said they had plainly been given good advice by their legal teams.
They entered guilty pleas to what they would understand were serious charges.
He added: “I cannot pass sentence on you today.
“It is right and proper that the court has all the information about you to decide what the appropriate sentence is.”
The judge said all sentencing options would be available to the sentencing judge including the possibility of a custodial sentence.
“You will have to plan for that possible eventuality,” he said.
He extended their unconditional bail pending sentence of the pair, from Meadows View, Marford.
Sentencing will take place on Thursday, April 9.
