Theft and vandalism costs computer firm £15,000:

THEFT AND VANDALISM COSTS COMPUTER BUSINESS £15,000

-

A BUSINESS owner has spoken out after a £15,000 burglary of his premises.

Celtic Computers in Groeslon was broken into in the early hours of May 26 by a group of thieves, who stole a number of laptops.

The shop was equipped with CCTV, but the burglars had “clearly done their homework”, according to the owner.

Mr Gourlay, 37, said a burglary during lockdown compounded the pressures and made him and his partner feel as if their “world was crumbling around them”.

“They must have scoped the place out before because they avoided all the CCTV with their vehicle and parked in a specific spot where it wouldn’t catch them.

“From there, they went through the gardens of the residential buildings next to the industrial estate to get to the side of the shop before climbing on to the roof. They then cut through the roof and dropped down into the shop.

“They knew exactly where they were going, they knew where the cameras were, so they’d obviously come to the shop.”

As well as the £15,000 worth of equipment they stole, the thieves also trashed the shop.

“They smashed up anything they couldn’t take,” Mr Gourlay said.

He said he hoped the ordeal will alert other residents and business owners in the area.

“People should be on the lookout because it could happen to them. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. It’s been soul destroying.”

North Wales Police said: “If anyone has any information that can help us with our investigation, please contact us quoting ref: 10120000302572.”
