- Owen Hughes

DETAILED plans have now been submitted for a multimillion pound holiday village on the banks of the Menai Strait.

Last Spring, our sister paper the Daily Post revealed that Maybrook Investments, which owns Ferodo, had completed a deal to take on derelict mansions Plas Brereton and Plas Ty Coch.

The developer announced they wanted to build a holiday village and waterpark on the site and were in discussions with Hoseasons and Landal Greenparks, one of Europe’s leading park operators.

A consultation was held last year and now the plans have been submitted to Gwynedd council by agent Cadnant Planning.

Under the proposals there would be a central hub which would provide a variety of leisure facilities, including a waterpark, bowling facility, kids soft play area, restaurant, cafe, fast food, shop, health and wellbeing zone.

Surrounding this would be 208 lodges as well as 55 apartments – including four within the existing Plas Brereton risk assessment and landscape building which would be fully and visual impact. restored. “Many positive comments

“The leisure complex has been designed to be a perfect fit for customers within the Landal GreenParks and Hoseasons brands, and to provide another reason for holidaymakers to explore the unique character this area of Wales has to offer.”

They added: “Developer Maybrook Investments Ltd owns both sites, and their commitment to developing them outlines the fact that there certainly is an overriding demand for more topquality locations with an emphasis on luxury and sustainable tourism in North Wales.

“Whilst the tourism industry has been hard-hit by the Covid-19 restrictions, the developers remain confident that this type of high-quality tourist accommodation and facilities will be in high demand, with well-spaced out self-contained accommodation on a single site being popular for tourists.

“If supported by Gwynedd Council the developers would be in a position to start the development immediately providing a much needed boost to the local economy.”
