THEY PUT OUR KIDS AT RISK ...THEN CALLED FOR HELP

Beachgoers voice anger over jet-skiing pair:

- Owen Evans

TWO jet-skiers have been accused of “putting lives at risk” by riding yards from a beach filled with families.

Sunbathers reacted with fury when the pair arrived at Pwllheli Beach on Tuesday afternoon and began riding close to children playing in the water.

Video shows the pair riding perilously close to the beach, forcing families to retreat to shore.

Locals said the pair then returned to beach, but their jet-skis floated off when apparently not anchored properly.

According to reports, they asked for assistance from several people before a speedboat owner helped them get their vessels back. They then left the beach.

Vicky Williams, who witnessed the incident, said: “They were driving like idiots really close to shore. The kids had to come out of the water as it wasn’t safe.

“They were a danger to our children and others. They were risking other people’s lives driving like idiots.”

She said when the jet skis floated away, they asked for help from several people before a couple in a speed boat assisted.

She said: “[The speedboaters] attempted to tie the jet skis on to their boat.

“As that failed, they came to shore where the boys were by this time waving at them from the water.

“They picked them up and took them to collect the jet-skis.”

Witness Karen Rees Roberts added: “It was just totally stupid with children in the sea.

“My daughter and three friends were there, we got them out [of the water] to be safe.”

North Wales Police confirmed they were called out to the incident.

A spokesman said: “We were called at 3.24pm.

“We were told that two jet-skiers were driving too close to people and asked by a member of the public to attend.

“A foot patrol attended but [there was] no sign of the jet skiers.”

Temperatures rose close to 30C in North Wales, causing many families living close to the beach to head out and enjoy the weather.
