Virtual milk contracts roadshow

NFU Cymru has launched a series of virtual events to discuss the UK Government’s dairy contract proposals.

The union sees the consultation as a “real opportunity” for the sector.

It includes an option for a mandatory pricing mechanism within all contracts.

The virtual roadshows start with an all-Wales meeting today, Wednesday, July 15, at 1pm.

This will be chaired by NFU Cymru deputy director Dylan Morgan with a range of union leaders and advisers.

Regional meetings will follow, involving union reps such as Aled Jones, Dafydd Jarrett and Abi Reader.

The North East Wales meeting, chaired by NFU Clwyd’s Dewi Jones, is on Tuesday, August 4.

It’s followed by the North West Wales event on Thursday, August 6, chaired by Dairy Board member Trevor Lloyd. Both are at 7.30pm.

“We must work together for a positive outcome,” said Abi Reader, chair of NFU Cymru’s dairy board.
