‘Sold’ signs go up for mansion and hotel

- Owen Hughes

SEIONT Manor hotel and Plas Glynllifon have been ‘sold’ according to the website of the sales agent.

Paul and Rowena Williams bought Seiont Manor hotel, in Llanrug, and Plas Glynllifon, near Caernarfon, in 2016.

The multi-million pound redevelopment of the Glynllifon mansion, which was built in the 1830s for Lord Newborough, later stalled.

At the end of 2018 the couple entered into a partnership on both properties with Mylo Capital Limited – run by Myles Cunliffe.

But the properties have been dogged by issues which saw them both go into receivership.

The business partners also fell out and in January our sister paper, the Daily Post, revealed legal action had been launched by the couple against Myles Cunliffe and Mylo Capital Ltd.

This was resolved this July when they reached a joint agreement.

The two properties, which

were in the hands of administrators Duff & Phelps, went on the market in February this year.

Leisure property specialist Fleurets was instructed by the administrators to market the sites.

Plas Glynllifon had a guide price of £2m whilst Seiont

Manor was on for £1.5m.

Now Fleurets have placed sold banners on the properties on their website.

The Daily Post has contacted Fleurets and Duff and Phelps for more information about the sales: they had not been able to respond as the Herald went to press yesterday.

It is hoped that if sold that Seiont can reopen as soon as possible to bring jobs back to the site, which was once stayed in by the Hollywood A-lister Angelina Jolie, during the filming of Lara Croft Tomb Raider in Snowdonia.

The 42-bedroom Plas Glynllifon, set in approximately 16 acres with extensive gardens and woodland, will be more of a challenge.

It has been partially restored over the years but still needs millions of pounds of additional investment.
