Make sure of vote as deadlines approach

WITH weeks to go until we elect a new Senedd the deadlines for being able to vote in person, by post or via a proxy are fast approachin­g.

First of all you need to make sure you are on the register of electors.

If you haven’t received a form detailing who in your household is registered to vote, or you have and your name wasn’t listed, now is the time to sort it out.

To do this you must write to the appropriat­e electoral registrati­on officer for your county (address below).

Alternativ­ely you can register to vote online at : gov.uk/register-to-vote by 5pm on Monday, April 19 to be able to take part in the Senedd and Police and Crime Commission­er elections, which are held on the same day.

To cast a postal vote you need to contact the electoral registrati­on officer for your county by 5pm on Tuesday, April

20.

If you apply for a proxy vote your completed applicatio­n form needs to be with your electoral registrati­on officer by 5pm on Tuesday, April

27.

You can get an emergency proxy vote up to 5pm on the day of the election on the grounds of physical incapacity, work or service reasons or to comply with coronaviru­s guidance.

Any physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Tuesday, April

27.

For work/service or coronaviru­s reasons the person must have become aware that they couldn’t visit the polling station in person after 5pm on Tuesday, April
