GWYNEDD LIBRARIES: are now available online. It’s possible to download all sorts of e-resources online through Gwynedd Libraries. You can access these resources online for FREE through any Internet accessible device. These resources are available in Welsh and English and are suitable for adults, children and young people. E-books, oral e-books through Borrowbox, e-books, e-audio books through Borrowbox, e-magazines and e-comics through RB Digital, Theory Test Pro to practise the theory driving test questions. Also If you are a member of Gwynedd Libraries you can register for access to the National Library of Wales’ electronic resources including: People’s collection Wales, Welsh newspapers online and Welsh Journals. But becoming a member is simple, you can join online and then you can access all of the digital resources.

ANGLESEY & GWYNEDD WIDOWED SOCIAL GROUP:

This is a social group covering Anglesey, Bangor, Caernarfon and Llyn, set up for widowed people to enjoy life again in the company of other widowed people who understand. As a guide it is suggested that people aged 50-70 will get the most from membership, as we aim to be active, out and about. At the moment it meets regularly in Bangor, Menai Bridge and Caernarfon and also meets up weekly for walks, and to go to opera, ballet, gigs, cinema, meals, pub quiz and weekends away. SANTES DWYNWEN CARDS: Love is in the air for Caernarfon’s over 55s who are invited to a free Santes Dwynwen card making workshop at Canolfan y Fron, Upper Llandwrog on Saturday, January 22 at 11am-1pm. This is part of the Royal Voluntary Service First Time for Everything programme, supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, which gives people an opportunit­y to try something new for free in their local community. Local artist, Sian Owen, will host the workshop and participan­ts will be making Santes Dwynwen cards based on Welsh slate carvings. Light refreshmen­ts will be provided. Booking is essential as places are limited. QUILT OF LOVE AND HOPE: The Grandparen­ts’ Quilt of Love and Hope will be on display in Criccieth. The squares on the quilt have all been made by grandparen­ts who are estranged from their grandchild­ren, a predicamen­t which is particular­ly difficult to cope with at this time of year when all the emphasis is on families being together. The quilt will be on display in the Memorial Hall in Criccieth into January.

ST AELHHAEARN: There will be a service every Sunday at 10am. Sunday’s service was led by Lynda Cox. The readers were Ann Roberts and Rose Williams. The organist was Sianelen Pleming.

ST PADARNS: Holy Communion is held every Sunday at 11am and every 4th Sunday at 8am. The church is open daily from 10 until 3 for visitors and foodbank donations.

HORNBY RAILWAY COLLECTORS CLUB: will meet on January 18 from 3pm to 7pm at the Memorial Hall on the A487 Porthmadog to Caernarfon road. Layouts running in ‘o’ gauge and Dublo. This month’s theme will be ‘what Santa brought’, not necessaril­y last Christmas. There is free parking and light refreshmen­ts will be available.
