Join new ‘Love Your Hospice’ family sponsored walk in July

-

THIS July marks the St David’s Hospice ‘Love your Hospice’ awareness month, and the charity is inviting you to join them in celebrating the work the Hospice does for the local community.

The brand-new family friendly event, ‘Love your Hospice’ Family Sponsored Walk, takes place on Sunday, 24 July at 11am. It follows a stunning route from the Treborth Botanic Garden, crossing the iconic Menai Bridge and down towards Church Island. Accessible to all, it is an easy path through the woodlands and along pavements of the coastal path - therefore pushchair friendly and ideal for little legs.

This is the perfect event for the whole family to enjoy together whilst supporting St David’s Hospice. Whether you walk thirty miles or three miles bring all your family and friends and enjoy a leisurely walk together.

Gwynedd Community Fundraiser, Chelsea Chamberlain said: “We’re really excited to announce this brand-new event for 2022. This family walk is a first for St David’s Hospice and will take you from Treborth over to Menai bridge, taking in two of the three counties we provide hospice care for. It is a beautiful route - you won’t be short of photo opportunities!”

“We are also inviting everyone to raise money for the hospice (this is optional) and if an individual raises £25 – they receive a free set of Hospice ‘love your hospice’ pyjamas (or a family of four raises £75 – they get a set each), and if you wish, you can wear them for your walk!”

The walk returns to Treborth Botanical Garden where a family fun day will be waiting for all the supporters! There will be food stalls plus outdoor games and craft activities - ideal for making memories with the family.

St David’s Hospice is a local charity, caring for local people, delivering specialist care to adult patients with life limiting illnesses or those in need of end-of-life care from Anglesey, Gwynedd and Conwy.

This year, it will cost over £6 million to run St David’s Hospice with just a small percentage of that figure coming from the Welsh Government and Local Health Board. The majority of this comes from community fundraising. None of these costs are passed to the patients, their families or carers, because St David’s Hospice care is free to all.

Entry is £5 per person. Please register for the event in advance by visiting stdavidshospice.enthuse.com/cf/familysponsored-walk-loveyour-hospice
