Supermarkets are profiteering in crisis

against ‘requiring improved sewerage systems’, against ‘requiring a reduction in the harm caused by untreated sewage discharges’ and against ensuring ‘untreated sewage is not discharged’ are culpable.

At the time they said the reason they voted against those measures was to protect consumers from increased bills – ironic given Thames Water’s recent bid to raise bills by 40%.

Back then they said: “We now have the legislation in place to deal with our archaic sewage system while also holding water companies to account.” Failure and lies!

Labour is going to have to match Atlee’s 1945 government for us to get through this. Yes, it will take “a decade of national renewal”.

Atlee followed the devastation of WW2 – Starmer will follow the devastation of Conservatism. right outside 10 Downing Street, but failed to act on Boris Johnson illegally staging lockdown parties inside, until his political opponents later revealed it at a politically convenient time for them. So that timing looked suspicious for the police too.

And in 2016, FBI head James Comey confused computer files with emails (a file is on one computer, an email is on both the sending and receiving computers).

Comey was hunting Hillary Clinton’s emails, found that many were deleted from the ‘from’ computer, and abandoned the search, reopening the investigation only when finding a set of emails (conveniently) found just before the election. The timing looking suspicious for the FBI.

He should’ve made a very public appeal earlier for the emails from any computers they were sent to. That way, when they then turned up just days before the election, a crucial issue would’ve been why whoever had them had ignored his public appeal, certainly clearing the FBI of suspicion.

So with Angela Rayner, the police need to be credibly explaining why they didn’t notice anything when it actually occurred – and if they failed to notice anything, then keeping more of an eye on our politicians generally, for their own reputational benefit if nothing else.

After all, who was it who said we need the most stringent measures watching everyone post-9/11? Answer: the Labour government and the police.

SOME £2.8 billion of profit, and this is just Tesco. That’s a 160% increase on last year’s figures. What a wonderful thing the cost-of-living crisis is for the retail trade.

So, just how can we hear the argument that world-market prices are responsible, when the truth is our supermarkets are profiteering from the cost-of-living crisis?
