30 UNDER 30 WINNERS
Mediaweek celebrates the rising stars of the UK media industry in 2017
Women dominate Campaign’s Media Week 30 Under 30 2017, in partnership with Shortlist Media. Nineteen women and 11 men from brands, agencies and media-owners were selected as our rising stars of the UK media industry.
It was the second year in a row in which more women than men impressed the judges, after 20 women and 10 men were picked in 2016.
More than 100 people applied – the youngest of them aged 19 – and
Campaign wants to thank them all, because the standard of entries, which required every candidate to make a three-minute video, was extremely high.
We hope that some of those who missed out this year will try again in the future.
We still worry about the relatively low representation of people from black, Asian and other ethnic minority backgrounds, although there was an improvement on a year ago.
Thank you to Shortlist Media and our judges: Davina Barker, sales director of Digital Cinema Media; Abi Morrish, head of digital engagement at MEC; Dino Myers-lamptey, managing director of Mullen Lowe media hub; Tim Pearson, chief executive of Manning Gottlieb OMD; Sophie Robinson, chief marketing officer at Shortlist Media; Daren Rubins, chief executive of Lighthouse Company; Gurjit Degun, news editor of
Campaign; and Gideon Spanier, head of media at Campaign.
“The varied and diverse talent coming through all parts of the industry is both inspiring and reassuring for the future” Davina Barker sales director, Digital Cinema Media
”The standard of entries was exceptionally high. Shortlist Media is committed to helping the ‘Met Set’ audience achieve ambitious goals before they hit 30, and it’s great to do this for some in the media and creative industries” Sophie Robinson chief marketing officer, Shortlist Media
