Tarbert Seafood Festival 2016
All this luscious produce will be featured on Saturday in cookery demonstrations on the quay by Chef Mike Leslie of the Coachman Hotel in Kilsyth and Chef James Percival of Starfish in Tarbert. These two top chefs will be showing off their best moves as they go head-to-head in a competitive cook-off.
Chef Mike, a huge supporter of the festival, has been demonstrating his seafood cooking skills for many years, while Chef James took part in the festival last year and has been building a solid reputation for fantastic seafood, with the overwhelming number of reviewers on Tripadvisor giving his restaurant five stars. So the competition is set to be sizzling!
Local producers and businesses will have their delicious fare on offer at tastings around the harbour front - including Arbroath Smokies - along with craft, plant and home baking stalls to peruse.
If seafood is not your thing, the Argyll hog roast will be in Tarbert on Saturday and Sunday for the meat lovers.
Music and children’s activities will keep the atmosphere lively and the whole family entertained.
New for 2016 will be performance artists from Circus Malabarastas, who will stage a circus show combining comedy, illusions, fire, juggling and more! Entertainment will also include Campbeltown Highland Dance from James McCorkindale's School of Dance.
The Seafood Festival court will join the parade on Saturday afternoon. The event kicks off at 2.20pm from the fire station, with whimsical floats, Mid Argyll Pipe Band, the unique Tarbert majorettes and a host of familiar faces taking part in this must-see spectacle.
During Sunday’s ‘Beer on the Pier’ festival favourites the Democrats will keep the musical tempo going, and there will be songs and plenty of costume changes from Grease the Musical and Dirty Dancing.
Chief organisers Margaret McNeill and Duncan MacGregor, with supporters Tarbert Enterprise Company look forward to welcoming everyone to the 2016 Tarbert Seafood Festival for yet another year of delicious and exciting family fun.
