FOUR teams all finished with the same score in one of the tightest competitions on the Kintyre golf circuit this season.

Taking place last Saturday, a total of 11 teams took part in the Tarbert Hotelsponsored Am-Am, with players from Carradale, Lochgilphead and Dunaverty joining eight local fours.

Both overhead and underfoot conditions were near perfect, allowing no excuses for poor scoring.

Early starters were the Lochgilphead team marshalled by club captain Ryan McG- lynn, who posted a respectable 53 to take the clubhouse lead.

Local team ‘The Magic 2s’ comprised of S Ferguson, F Johnstone, J Hardie and M McAlpine returned a superb 50 to become the new leaders.

They were joined on 50 by ‘Three Eagles and a Birdie’ comprised of M MacIver, M Davis, L Mathieson and I Johnstone jnr.

The third team to finish with 50 were ‘The Forestry Joiners’ with E McDougall, B Baird, B McLean and P McLean making up the team.

The last team in were ‘Danny’s boys’, R MacDonald, JS MacNab, JF MacNab and B MacNab who also managed to shoot 50.

Club captain Keith McTaggart had his work cut out to calculate the winners, with ‘Danny’s boys’ taking top spot virtue of scoring the lowest back nine with 23.

‘The Forestry Joiners’ came in second by virtue of the best last six holes, ahead of ‘The Magic 2s’ in third.

The clubhouse was packed to the rafters for the presentation, carried out by MacTaggart and Scott from the Tarbert Hotel.

The captain thanked Scott for his sponsorship and all the teams for taking part, especially those that had travelled.

This Saturday sees the Lamont-MacKenzie trophy take place. Members are asked to report for duty at 10.30am, with tees scheduled for 11am.

All proceeds will go to the Mitchell Johnstone fund.
